18th March

Bishop James  contacted all the clergy yesterday with the latest update from the Church of England.  It has been decided to suspend all public worship in all Church of England premises from today.  I await an update with regard to public offices i.e. baptisms, weddings and funerals and will inform you of that decision as soon as it arrives although I have had a number of baptisms that are now cancelled in light of the national concern.  I am aware that these are challenging times and the situation is changing daily but be assured that you are all in my thoughts and prayers at this time.  I do intend to keep St Cuthbert’s church open as a place for prayer and I will be in the parish office each day in case people are needing to self-isolate and I need to make necessary pastoral phone calls.   If anyone wants to contact me then please tell them to do so.

Many thanks and God bless.
