Message from the New Vicar

Dear Friends,

I am looking forward to taking up my post with you at Carlisle. At long last the journey from applying for the post to being interviewed, leaving Dunston and arriving here is now complete. So I thought it would be appropriate to tell you something about myself.

I am 54 years old and have been ordained for 22 years. I was born and bred in the North East and worked for 12 years in Local Goverment. After training in Durham I was ordained in 1988 and served my curacy in Crook, Co. Durham. For the last 18 years I have been Vicar of Dunston, Gateshead, and for 10 years I have been Area Dean of Gateshead West.

I am married ot Sandra. We were married in Dunfermline, Scotland, 30 years ago. We have a black Labrador called Jasper, who I know will enjoy the walks around this area. I enjoy theatre, history, reading, walking and gardening. I am a Rotarian and have served as president of Gateshead East Rotary Club twice in the last 18 years.

We have a house in Haltwhistle so we know the area well and Carlisle has always been a favourite place to visit. We never thought that one day we would live and work here, but God has called us to ths place and I hope with God's help I will serve this church and the city of Carlisle to the best of my ability.

The team here is one that I am looking forward to being an active member of and I hope we shall all work together to promote the gospel in this city.

With every blessing,

Keith
